W Johnstone & Sons Ltd
is a 4th generation run, local business serving the Dumfries & Galloway region and nearing its 100 years’ anniversary.
William Johnstone started the business as a vehicle repairs, fuel and electrical engineers, initially in St Johns Town of Dalry, later moving to new larger premises in Crocketford in 1936 where they are based to this day.
After the move, William’s son Eric took control and continued the business from Crocketford. With the decline of the fuel business, plumbing gradually became the more prominent aspect of their work, with the business then gradually being taken over by Eric’s son Mark. The garage repairs then ceased and plumbing & heating became the mainstay of the business. Mark was in control and then started to bring in two of his sons to work. The business continued to grow and again, with changes in demand, the water filtration side of the business was born. This work continued to increase in volume and now, the water filtration business is being established in its own right alongside the ever-growing plumbing & heating work.

The businesses are flourishing and the control of the two sides is starting to be taken over by the sons. Ben concentrates on the water filtration side of the business, with the plumbing & heating, biomass, air source & ground source side being taken over by Jack, while
Mark intends to eventually take a back seat in both.
W Johnstone & Sons Ltd currently employ 10 tradesmen and labourer's with an administrative team of four. They employ local men, many of whom have been with the company for 10+ years. Our Galloway Water Filtration Ltd side currently employs two men on borehole installations and water filtration installs & maintenance.

2019 sees us being appointed as a registered installer for the new Navien
boiler range for both Gas & Oil Boilers. Navien are bringing their boilers to the UK this year. They are already very successful in Europe, Asia, North America, China & Russia. They have recently established a base in England. Further details will be available over the next few months.
